...the lady you were interning with was a -how do I say this lightly-crazy bitch, and the task of editing romance books made you want to gauge your eyes out with a pen would you:
A) quit the internship before your soul is crushed and/or you curse out your crazy (like for real) boss out for being snarky bitch when it's not necessary.
B) stick it out and hope that the first day was just a fluke
C) Realize that after a year of wanting a publishing internship you aren't really a publishing kind of girl because desks are lame and staring at a computer screen for 8 hours straight is no fun.
Hypothetically speaking of course?

I'd say "B"..you seemed pretty excited about the internship in your posts, so just stick it out and see if you like it : )
bosses always seem to be hard on the first day, but hopefully she loosens up.
I'm going with "B" also. Most bosses are somewhere on the scale of "crazy" to "raging bitch" - you just need to learn to cope with that.
Frankly, I think your best bet is to blog, or journal, the experience. It already sounds like the premise for a memoir or novel or something. Use it as an opportunity for humor. Use it as an opportunity to HONE YOUR HUMOR SKILLS. Make a goal: once a week, write a long, humorous blogpost about the internship.
Here's the thing: all work, even internships, have some level of suckiness. That's why it's work, that's why you have to get paid. I love teaching, but good god, there's plenty of hideous bullshit and tedium I could happily do without. But I like getting paid, and I like the GOOD moments.
Make it your purpose in life to kick ass with this internship (kick ITS ass, maybe?) and use it as a way to do something else you really like - writing, whether it's just private or for public/professional consumption - or as a way to advance, careerwise.
You used to consistently write HYSTERICAL posts when you were in school. Obviously, you're still funny, but then you were clearly in a place just overflowing with opportunities for humorous observation. I suspect you're in such a place again, with this internship.
sorry to babble at you....but i think you can do this! I really, really do.
